Summer Camps 2017
Squash camps are a great way to build squash skills quickly. We offer camps during the summer break.
Heba El Torky, World #19 will host all of the Summer Camps at McLean Racquet and Health Club in 2017. Heba is known for her focus on tactics and technique, and for her easy-going nature and openness to squash players of all ages. She is joined by countryman Karim Gawad, the #2 ranked man on the tour June 26-30th for a special camp catering to players focused on competitive play throughout the year. In July, James Willstrop, former World #1 and current World #9 will be a special guest coach offering his insight on technique, fitness and focus for competitive players.
For the rest of the summer, camps will focus on players who aspire to the silver level of play or to be on a school team in the fall.
Each day we will do drilling, conditioned games and round robins all focused on improving technical skill, fitness, and competitive confidence. Daily activities also include activities for developing fitness and agility.
Camps run in three sessions: 10 am – noon, noon-2pm and 2pm-4 pm. am. Campers can do 1, 2 or three sessions per day. Full day campers receive a discount, and are provided lunch.
Our Director of Squash, Jahangir Naseem, has designed the squash camps to ensure a high level of coaching to maximize improvement and fun. Hunt Richardson’s expertise in learning styles assists the coaching team in creating an environment in which all players can learn and grow. Heba El Torky joins the coaching team this summer. Currently ranked PSA #19, Heba brings her emphasis on tactics an placement to drive students into smart, thoughtful play. Assistant coaches Ikram Khan, Victor Garcia and Shahid Hussain return to the summer camps providing fitness training, drills to drive consistency, and match play experience.
Student:coach ratio 4:1
Campers will need to have their own non-marking shoes and protective eye wear for camp. Racquets will be provided to players who do not have one, but the coaching staff recommends that campers purchase a racquet if they intend to play squash beyond their camp experience.
